Description :
Un arbre à feuilles persistantes. Il atteint 20 m de haut et s'étend sur 5 m de large. La tige robuste a des contreforts. L'écorce est grise. Il a une couronne touffue dense. Les jeunes pousses sont rouge foncé. Les feuilles sont vert foncé et ressemblent à une ellipse. Ils ont une pointe émoussée. La face supérieure de la feuille est brillante, tandis que la face inférieure est terne. Il y a très peu de glandes sébacées visibles. (Ces caractéristiques foliaires aident à le distinguer d'Acmena smithii.) Les feuilles mesurent 4 à 12 cm de long et 3 à 4 cm de large. Le bord de la feuille se courbe souvent vers l'arrière. Les fleurs sont petites et blanches et avec un aspect duveteux. Ils se produisent sur des tiges de fleurs ramifiées près des extrémités des branches. Les fruits sont des baies violet bleuâtre pâle.
