Description :
Un petit arbuste. Il a normalement de nombreuses tiges. L'écorce est brun rougeâtre. Il atteint une hauteur de 2 à 6 m et une largeur de 1 à 2 m. Il perd ses feuilles pendant la saison sèche. Les branches sont anguleuses et ont parfois des épines. Les feuilles sont disposées en 2 rangées en alternance. Les feuilles sont ovales et de taille variable. La lame mesure 3,5-8,5 cm de long sur 2,5-5,5 cm de large. Ils sont vert clair dessus et plus pâles dessous. Les nervures forment un réseau et sont proéminentes sous la feuille. La pointe est pointue. Les fleurs sont minuscules et crème avec des fleurs mâles et femelles sur des arbres séparés. Ils mesurent 0,1 à 0,2 cm de long et sont en grappes à l'aisselle des feuilles. Il y a plus de fleurs mâles que femelles. Le fruit est une baie ronde et charnue. Il mesure de 0,5 à 0,8 cm de diamètre. Les fruits sont blancs à maturité et contiennent 3-4 petites graines.
