Description :
Un arbre à feuilles persistantes atteignant 10-20 m de haut. Il a une couronne largement étalée et une couverture dense de feuilles. L'arbre a souvent des contreforts. L'écorce est légèrement rugueuse mais s'accroche fermement au tronc. Les jeunes tiges sont presque rondes en coupe transversale. Les feuilles sont en forme d'épée et mesurent 6 à 14 cm de long sur 2 à 4 cm de large. Ils sont vert clair brillant sur la face supérieure et plus pâles en dessous. Ils sont épais et coriaces et se rétrécissent vers les deux extrémités. La nervure médiane est distincte. La tige de la feuille mesure 0,4-0,8 cm de long. Les fleurs mesurent environ 1,5 cm de large, sont de couleur crème et comportent de nombreuses étamines d'environ 1,5 cm de long. Les fleurs se présentent en grappes d'environ 5 à 7 cm de diamètre aux extrémités des branches. Les fruits sont ronds ou légèrement aplatis et mesurent 2 cm de diamètre. Ils sont blancs mais peuvent devenir rougeâtres à maturité. Ils ont une chair spongieuse et ridée avec de nombreuses glandes sébacées. Ils sont comestibles.
