Un igname. Une vigne grimpante qui peut être assez longue. Il peut mesurer 10 m de long. Ils s'enroulent vers la gauche. Il y a des épines sur la tige. Il a des feuilles composées portant 3 très grandes folioles. Les feuilles peuvent mesurer 30 cm de diamètre. Les feuillets sont inégaux de chaque côté. Les feuilles sont produites l'une après l'autre le long de la tige. Les jeunes tiges, tiges et folioles des feuilles sont velues. La tige des feuilles est aussi longue que les folioles (10-15 cm). Il y a de petits piquants sur la surface inférieure de la veine principale. Les fleurs sont petites, jaune pâle et portées sur des grappes de fleurs composées. Les fruits mesurent 5 cm de diamètre et sont divisés en 3 lobes. Le tubercule est couvert de poils racinaires. Il a des lobes.
