Description :
Un arbuste dressé ou un petit arbre. Il pousse jusqu'à 5 m de haut. L'écorce est brun pâle. C'est dur quand il est vieux. Les petites branches sont vertes et parsemées de lenticelles. Les feuilles sont ovales et mesurent 13 cm de long sur 6,5 cm de large. Ils sont vert foncé et durement poilus dessus. Ils sont d'un vert plus pâle et ont des poils veloutés en dessous. Les bords peuvent avoir des dents fines et il est ondulé. La tige de la feuille mesure 3 cm de long. Les fleurs sont en chardon comme des têtes. Les fleurs individuelles mesurent 10 mm de long et ont la forme d'une urne. Ils sont mauves lorsqu'ils sont jeunes mais pâlissent au blanc. Ils ont des têtes denses de 1,5 cm de diamètre.
