Un palmier sagoutier. Il n'y a qu'un seul coffre. Il mesure environ 7 m de haut. Le tronc mesure 30 cm de diamètre. Le tronc se rétrécit du milieu vers le haut. Les feuilles sont vert foncé et mesurent environ 3 m de long. Ils se cambrent. Les folioles poussent à un angle donnant une feuille en forme de V. La fleur est au sommet de la paume. Il est très grand avec des milliers de petites fleurs jaunes. La tige fleurie mesure environ 3 m de long. La tige fleurie est ramifiée 3 fois. Les fruits sont en forme de poire et bruns. Ils mesurent environ 12 cm de long sur 9 cm de large. Ceux-ci sont recouverts d'un motif complexe d'écailles. Les fruits sont dressés.
