Description :
Une herbe de lys qui peut atteindre 1 m de haut. Il forme des touffes étalées. Le rhizome est épais et noir. Il possède des racines fibreuses. Il existe plusieurs rhizomes épais avec des tubercules et de minces stolons rampants. Il y a 4 à 7 feuilles. Les tiges des feuilles mesurent 30 à 80 cm de long. Les feuilles sont oblongues à en forme d'épée et mesurent 40 à 90 cm de long sur 5 à 14 cm de large. Ils peuvent avoir quelques poils. Les feuilles sont vert clair et plissées. La tige fleurie a une tête ronde près du niveau du sol. Les tiges fleuries mesurent 15 à 30 cm de long. Les fleurs hochent la tête. Les fleurs mesurent 2 cm de diamètre. Ils sont jaune vif. Les fruits sont des baies. Les baies individuelles mesurent 7 à 16 mm de long. Ils se présentent en grappes à la base de la plante. Ceux-ci contiennent de nombreuses graines. Les fruits sont comestibles. Le fruit est une baie blanche de 4 à 5 mm de diamètre. Les graines sont noires avec des rayures irrégulières.
